 Dennis B. Sprague, Ph.D. is a Licensed Psychologist and Certified Sports Psychologist with more than 20 years of experience. He earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Houston and his doctorate from the University of Kentucky where he currently teaches sport psychology to graduate students. For ten years, he served as Sport Psychology Consultant for University of Kentucky athletics, working with the 1996 NCAA Championship UK Basketball Team, the '93 Peach Bowl UK Football Team, the '92 SEC Champion UK Men's Tennis Team and the UK Men's Golf Team. Dr. Sprague now works primarily with amateur and professional golfers and is a volunteer coach for the Eastern Kentucky University Men's and Women's Golf Teams (the Men's Team won the 2006 OVC Championship.) He is a member of the American Psychological Association, Division for Exercise and Sports Psychology, the Association for the Advancement of Sport Psychology, and the National Institute for Sports. He speaks and writes extensively for sports groups / publications and has been a contributor to Sports Illustrated, ESPN, CBS, and the BBC. He was a featured participant in the video "Sports Injury Concerns: The Female Athlete," and wrote a chapter for the text "The Female Athlete." He is presently on the Advisory Board for Head in the Game, a sports psychology group providing instructional media for youth in sports and parents of athletes. As founder of HeadFirst Golf, Dr. Sprague maintains a private practice and offers phone and web cam consultation to golfers around the world. |
